WHY VERAHOLD WAS CREATED
Every private transaction runs on the same quiet assumption: that the other person is going to follow through. Most of the time, they do. But it only takes one bad experience (a deposit sent to someone who disappeared, or a sale lost to a buyer who never showed) to realize how little there's ever been to back that assumption up.
That's the problem VeraHold was created to solve. Not as a way to guarantee people will behave honestly (nothing can promise that), but as a way to remove the one part of the problem that's actually solvable: knowing whether the agreed amount is available, before anyone has to rely solely on the other person's word.
BUILT DIFFERENTLY, ON PURPOSE
VeraHold never takes possession of your money. Not temporarily, not in a holding account, not at any point in the process. That's not a policy. It's how the app is built.
When you use VeraHold, the actual authorization is placed and released entirely by Stripe and your card issuer. VeraHold's role is narrower than people sometimes expect: it facilitates the authorization, shows the result, and gets out of the way. There's no VeraHold-controlled account for your money to sit in, because one doesn't exist.
That distinction matters more than it might seem. It's the difference between an app that holds your money and an app that helps you verify it's there, and it's why VeraHold was built around Authorization Holds instead of any kind of deposit or escrow system in the first place.
OUR MISSION
Give buyers and sellers greater confidence before money changes hands.
We believe most people meeting to buy, sell, rent, or hire someone are exactly who they say they are and intend to follow through. VeraHold is designed for the moments when you want a little more confidence before money changes hands.
WHERE WE'RE HEADED
Authorization Holds have been used for decades. Hotels, rental car companies, and plenty of other businesses have used them for years to confirm funds are available before finalizing a charge. VeraHold applies that same well-established concept to private, in-person transactions, where that kind of commitment can help both sides move forward with greater confidence.
Our goal isn't just to help with one transaction. It's to help make verifying funds before meeting in person a normal part of private transactions, just as ordinary as checking reviews, comparing prices, or confirming a meeting place.
Verify. Meet. Complete
